The Hawk is Furever Feline Cat Rescue’s flagship infrastructure initiative, designed to support responsible community cat care through structured feeding, monitoring, and data-informed oversight. The system is being developed to provide practical tools that improve accountability, sustainability, and long-term management.

How The Hawk Works

The Hawk is built around a converted weather-resistant outdoor housing unit, engineered for field deployment at feral colony sites. The system integrates feeding management, identity monitoring, and visual oversight in a single deployable unit.

Microchip Door Scanner
The entry system uses microchip scanning to identify cats accessing the feeding area. This supports colony tracking, enables monitoring of individual animals over time, and assists in identifying lost domestic cats that may have joined a feral colony.

Microchip-Controlled Food Access
Food bowl access is managed through microchip identification, supporting controlled and measured feeding. This directly reduces the unmanaged food exposure linked to wildlife attraction, waste accumulation, and disease concentration at colony sites.

Internal Camera Monitoring
Internal cameras provide volunteer-monitored visual oversight of feeding activity, supporting colony population awareness, behavioral observation, and site accountability, capabilities manual feeding systems cannot provide.
